Speaking at Create Leicester: Why Neurodiversity is the Future of Creative Teams
I had the incredible opportunity to speak at Create Leicester at the LCB Depot in Leicester, where I delivered my talk, “Neurodiversity at Work: Shaping Inclusive Futures for Creative Teams.”
From the moment I stepped into the venue, I could tell this was going to be a special event. The audience was a fantastic mix of directors, managers, and interns, all eager to learn how embracing neurodiversity can transform the way creative teams work.

Why Neurodiversity Matters in Creative Workplaces
The creative industry thrives on creativity, fresh ideas, and thinking outside the box, things that neurodivergent individuals excel at. Yet, traditional work structures often fail to support the unique ways neurodivergent minds process information, communicate, and solve problems.
In my talk, I explored how companies can redefine communication, leadership, and team culture to ensure that neurodivergent employees feel valued and supported. I wanted to shift the narrative, neurodiversity isn’t a challenge to “work around,” it’s a competitive advantage.
A Fantastic Audience with Insightful Discussions
One of the best things about speaking at Create Leicester was the engagement from the audience. It wasn’t just a passive listening session, there were questions, reflections, and real discussions about what this means for the industry.
Directors wanted to know how to build more inclusive hiring and management strategies.
Managers were eager to learn practical ways to support neurodivergent team members without making assumptions.
Interns and early-career professionals asked how they can navigate workplaces that may not yet understand their needs.
Hearing these perspectives reinforced why these conversations are so important. It’s not just about policy changes, it’s about shifting mindsets at every level of a business.
Key Takeaways from My Talk
💡 Neurodiversity isn’t about fixing individuals, it’s about fixing environments. When we adapt our workplaces to be more flexible and inclusive, everyone benefits, not just neurodivergent employees.
💡 Clear communication is key. Small changes, like offering written instructions alongside verbal ones or creating structured feedback loops, can reduce overwhelm and improve team efficiency.
💡 Diversity of thought is a business advantage. When teams include different ways of thinking, they solve problems in ways that traditional structures wouldn’t allow.
Final Thoughts
Speaking at Create Leicester was an absolute privilege, and I’m grateful to everyone who attended, listened, and shared their insights. Events like this show that the creative sector is ready for change, and I’m excited to be part of that journey.
If you’re a leader, manager, or team member looking to make your workplace more inclusive, I’d love to continue the conversation. Let’s work together to create spaces where neurodivergent individuals don’t just fit in, they thrive.
