This year, I had the incredible opportunity to be involved in a national campaign celebrating one of Leicester's most iconic landmarks – the King Richard III Visitor Centre. Partnering with Visit Leicester (Leicester City Council) and Mynt, we showcased the remarkable journey of this historic site, highlighting its vital role in shaping the city’s heritage.

The centre, built on the site where King Richard III's remains were famously discovered in 2012, opened its doors to the public on 26th July 2014. Since then, it has welcomed visitors from across the globe, becoming a key destination for those eager to learn about the discovery of the last Plantagenet king and the transformation of Leicester's history.

It was a true honour to contribute to this celebration, recognising not only the story of King Richard III but also the passion and dedication of the centre’s team. Over the past decade, the King Richard III Visitor Centre has earned more than 60 awards, a testament to its engaging exhibitions and the hard work of its staff and volunteers.

As someone passionate about storytelling and connecting people, participating in this campaign was an amazing experience. It reminded me of the power that history has in bringing people together, and how important it is to preserve and celebrate such significant milestones.

Congratulations to the entire team at the King Richard III Visitor Centre on 10 successful years! Here’s to many more years of sharing Leicester’s rich heritage with the world.
